Premier Inn Celebrates Raising £4 million with Special Party

Premier Inn team members celebrated raising £4 million for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity with a special party for the hospital’s patients and their families on Saturday 28 February.

The fun-packed Pirates & Princesses party at the London St Pancras hotel was also attended by celebrity guests Fay Ripley, Christopher Biggins and Matt Johnson, who joined in the activities.

Team members across Premier Inn selected Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity as its charity partner in a staff vote in May 2012. Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants, which runs Premier Inn, has pledged to raise £7.5 million towards the Premier Inn Clinical Building, a brand new, state-of-the-art centre due to open in 2017.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals, treating children from across the UK, often for rare and complex conditions.

Rachael Willis Fleming, Head of Account Management at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Premier Inn for their hard work and dedication in raising an incredible £4 million.

“Since our partnership began we have been really moved by the enthusiasm of the company’s employees and their desire to get involved. The money they have raised will help us make a real difference for children and families from across the UK.”

John English Head of Charity Partnerships at Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants said:

"On behalf of Whitbread I want to thank all of the team members who have worked so creatively and so hard to enable us to hit the £4m landmark. I've seen at first hand the activities the team members have arranged and managed and each one has been truly amazing.

"I'd also like to thank our customers who have been so supportive and generous with their own contributions. They have all made a difference.

"We've now passed the halfway stage of reaching our target of £7.5m to help build the Premier Inn Clinical Building at Great Ormond Street Hospital and we're now looking forward to reaching the final total.

"Today's party is a celebration not only of reaching such a significant financial milestone but it also gives us an opportunity to celebrate with the people that matter most, the hospital’s young patients and their families."

The Premier Inn Clinical Building will form part of the new Mittal Children’s Medical Centre, replacing outdated wards in some of the hospital’s oldest buildings and providing more privacy and comfort for families, including space for a parent to sleep by their child’s bedside.
