Dividends

What is a dividend?

Dividends are payments made to everyone who holds shares in the Company on the Record Date. Dividends are normally paid twice a year, with final dividends paid in July, and interim dividends in December.

To calculate the value of the latest dividend paid by the Company, please refer to the Dividend calculator

Payment of dividends

Dividends in the Company can be paid by three separate methods:

  • having them paid direct to your bank or building society account; or
  • electing to use them to buy more shares in Whitbread via the Dividend Reinvestment plan; or
  • being sent a cheque to your registered address.

If you wish for dividends to be paid directly into your bank or building society account through the BACS system, it avoids the risk of cheques being lost in the post and your dividend will be in your account on the day the payment is made. Our Registrar, Link Asset Services, will send you a dividend confirmation to confirm the amount and to which account it has been paid.

If you wish to update your bank or building society account details, please do so via the Shareportal at www.whitbread-shares.com

Dividend Re-investment Plan (the ‘DRIP’)

Under the DRIP, existing shares are bought in the market through a special dealing arrangement. This offers an efficient and convenient way to increase your shareholding in Whitbread plc.

To reinvest your dividend you will need to sign up for the DRIP via the Shareportal: www.whitbread-shares.com or by calling the shareholder helpline on +44 (0) 344 855 2327. (Calls are charged at the standard geographic rate and will vary by provider. Calls outside the United Kingdom are charged at the applicable international rate. We are open between 9am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays in England and Wales).
