Adam Crozier  Chairman 

Experience

Adam was Chief Executive of ITV plc from April 2010 to June 2017. During his time as Chief Executive, ITV was transformed into a global media player of scale, delivering consistently good growth and with increasing emphasis on international content creation and distribution.

Prior to ITV, Adam was Chief Executive of Royal Mail, where he led its modernisation and transformed it from a heavily loss making position to profitability. He has also been CEO of The Football Association between 2000 and 2002 as well as joint CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi from 1995-2000.

From 2017 to March 2020, Adam was Chairman of Vue International, a multi‑national cinema company.

Alison Brittain  Chief Executive

Experience

Alison joined Whitbread as Chief Executive Officer in 2015.

Prior to joining Whitbread, Alison was Group Director of Lloyds Banking Group’s Retail Division, with responsibility for the Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland retail branch networks, remote / intermediary channels / products and the business banking and UK wealth businesses. Prior to joining Lloyds Bank, Alison was Executive Director for Retail Distribution and Board Director at Santander UK PLC. She has held senior roles at Barclays Bank, was a Member of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Group and a Non-executive Director of Marks & Spencer Plc.

Alison has an MBA from the Judge Business School, Cambridge, was named ‘Business Woman of the Year 2017’ in the Veuve Clicquot awards and awarded a CBE in the 2019 New Year’s honours list.

Nicholas Cadbury Group Finance Director

Experience

Nicholas joined Whitbread in November 2012 as Group Finance Director. He previously worked at Dixons Retail PLC, in a variety of management roles, including Chief Financial Officer from 2008 to 2011. Nicholas also held the position of Chief Financial Officer of Premier Farnell PLC, which he joined in 2011. Nicholas originally qualified as an accountant with Price Waterhouse.

Richard Gillingwater  Senior Independent Director 

Experience

Richard is Chairman of both Janus Henderson Plc and SSE PLC, and served as a Non-Executive Director of Helical PLC and was former Pro-Chancellor of the Open University. Richard is a highly experienced executive and has spent much of his career in corporate finance and investment banking with Kleinwort Benson, BZW and Credit Suisse First Boston, before he moved out of banking and became Chief Executive of the Shareholder Executive and then Dean of Cass Business School.

Horst Baier Non-executive Director 

Experience

Horst is a highly experienced executive with more than 20 years background in the leisure industry. He was for 8 years the Chief Financial Officer of TUI AG, the London-listed anglo-german leisure travel group until the end of September 2018.

During his time as Board Member of TUI AG, Horst played an important role in TUI´s transformation from a tour operator to a global provider of holidays operating 380 leisure hotels and 17 cruise ships.

Chris Vaughan General Counsel 

Experience

Chris previously held the position of General Counsel and Chief Corporate Officer at Balfour Beatty PLC from 2007 to 2015. Prior to this, he held senior legal positions at SABMiller PLC and Six Continents PLC (now InterContinental Hotels Group), having originally qualified as a lawyer at Freshfields law firm. As well as being General Counsel & Company Secretary, Chris is also the Executive Committee member responsible for Whitbread’s sustainability programme, Force for Good.

Simon Jones  Managing Director for Premier Inn and Restaurants, UK and Global Commercial Director

Experience

As Managing Director for Premier Inn & Restaurants UK, Simon Jones is passionate about creating a hotel and restaurants business loved by our team members and guests alike. With extensive hospitality experience and insight, Simon leads a 33,000 strong team to consistently serve up great food and provide a great night’s sleep to millions of guests every day across our ever growing network.

Before taking up his current position in September 2016, he held a number of senior roles within the organisation including Managing Director and Marketing & Strategy Director both for Premier Inn UK. Prior to joining Whitbread in 2012, Simon worked as a strategy consultant for over 15 years, latterly as a Partner at OC&C Strategy Consultants, where he advised a broad range of clients with a particular focus on retail and hospitality, including Whitbread’s Restaurant business.

Simon is a qualified Chartered Marketeer and studied Geography at Oxford University as an undergraduate. He is married, with three young children.

Mark Anderson Managing Director Property and International 

Experience

Mark Anderson joined Whitbread in January 2006 and was appointed to his current role in September 2016.

Mark is responsible for the acquisition, development and management of Whitbread’s substantial property portfolio and in addition he leads our International businesses for Premier Inn, overseeing development and operations in Germany and the Middle East, and M&A.

Before joining Whitbread, Mark spent 16 years at J Sainsbury PLC in a variety of senior positions, finally managing all aspects of the property estate.

Mark is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and holds an MBA from Henley Business School.

Nigel

Nigel Jones Group Operations Director 

Experience

Nigel leads Whitbread’s strategy and operations for Technology, Procurement & Supply Chain and leads the overall Whitbread Transformation Plan, as well as having responsibility for Safety & Security across the business.

Before joining Whitbread, Nigel spent 27 years at Tesco in a variety of senior positions across Stores, Technology, Supply Chain, Procurement and finally managing all aspects of International Operations and leading the Tesco/Booker merger programme.

Simon Ewins Managing Director, UK Hotels & Restaurants 

Experience

Simon is a hospitality industry advocate and veteran, having spent 30 years in the sector. His passion centres on how hospitality and Whitbread can combine to create outstanding careers for people of all academic levels across the UK as well as the pursuit of operational excellence in multi-site retail.

He has completed senior executive programmes in sustainability at both Oxford Said Business School and Cambridge University, where he is an alumni of the Sustainability Leadership programme. This is in addition to multiple general business programmes at London Business School and Kellogg Northwestern.

He is responsible for all Hotel and Restaurants portfolio operations across the UK and Ireland and has worked for Whitbread in multiple senior executive roles for 16 years. Prior to joining Whitbread, he spent time in other large scale hospitality companies, both Plc and Private Equity backed.
