Planning Appeal allowed for new Premier Inn at St Ives, Cornwall
An appeal by Premier Inn against Cornwall Council’s planning committee decision to refuse its proposals for a 90-bedroom hotel in St Ives has been allowed.
The appeal decision by the Planning Inspectorate was published today [13th May], following a one-day hearing in St Ives on 19 March.
Planning permission is now granted for the demolition of the existing care home at Trewidden Road and erection of a hotel along with associated landscaping, car parking and associated infrastructure.

“We are very pleased that our planning appeal to bring Premier Inn to St Ives has been allowed. We will now work with the owner of Trewidden Care Home to complete the purchase of the site.
“This process is expected to take at least six months, enabling time for Cornwallis Care to support the residents and their families to transition to appropriate accommodation within their group.”

Whitbread currently operates four Premier Inn hotels in West Cornwall at Hayle, Penzance, Camborne and Helston.
A timetable for progressing the consented hotel development at St Ives will be communicated in due course.
