Whitbread Investing in Skills & Employment (WISE)

As one of the UK’s largest employers, operating across communities both in the UK and around the world, we are passionate about upskilling, recruiting and retaining great people so that they are empowered to grow long term careers within our business.

Charlotte Maloney joined Whitbread 6 years ago as a team member in Premier Inn. Charlotte saw opportunities to reach her potential and build a career here, instead of university.

Charlotte started her Intermediate Apprenticeship as a team member and worked her way through to Advanced Apprenticeships as a team leader before starting on her Higher Hospitality Manager Apprenticeship in 2016. Charlotte gained the knowledge, skills and confidence to set her career up for success, and gained promotions following each programme.

In 2017 Charlotte completed her Higher Apprenticeship and was appointed to her first Operations Manager role in Manchester. Her programmes have supported Charlotte to be a more confident person stretching her knowledge and giving her time and space to learn and develop into a more rounded person, manager and future leader.

“Each Apprenticeship has taught me different skills and leadership helping me progress as well as becoming the first person to complete all levels and winning the Samuel Whitbread Apprentice Award.”

Our WISE programme continues to enable us to deliver on our commitment to having industry leading training and development schemes. That’s why our training is some of the best in the business - and that’s not just good news for our team members, but our customers too.
