We have a long history of commitment to training and developing our people. The Whitbread apprenticeship programme carries on this tradition.
It’s an industry-leading programme that integrates all our training materials into a nationally recognised Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship. We created it in conjunction with People 1st, the Sector Skills council for Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism, Edexcel (the awarding body) and the Learning and Skills Council.
Our apprenticeship is a framework of qualifications that helps our people to develop their skills while they work. It includes an NVQ at level 2, but also enables our people to develop the key skills of communication and maths.
Why is this industry leading?
Unlike others within the sector, this is a fully funded scheme available no matter what your previous qualifications or your age. Also the time scales for completion are in line with the fast paced nature of the industry and completion should be achieved for most within 6 months, unlike the industry average of 12.
Our Good Together commitment
As part of our Good Together corporate responsibility programme, we’re committed to over 3,000 of our people achieving or working towards qualifications through the apprenticeship or skills for life programme by 2011/12.
