Aylesbury's grandmother awarded first ever Table Table's Grandparent accolade.
After receiving an overwhelming response from the British public, grandmother Kishori Rao from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, has been announced as Table Table's Grandparent of the Year 2015.
Ten finalists across the UK went head-to-head as part of Table Table's first ever search for Grandparent of the Year 2015 in a public vote. Beating a host of worthy contenders to the post, Kishori has been awarded with the prestigious title. Vanessa Feltz, who was named as Table Table's first Celebrity Grandparent of the Year last month, presented Kishori with her trophy at her local Table Table, The Charter.
Kishori's granddaughter, Lauren, nominated her because "she is the loveliest person in the world, she puts others first and she is a great friend. You can talk to her about anything and she will always be there for you. She makes the best Indian food in the world and she is always looking after everyone else. She is loved by everyone and is a true inspiration. I hope I'm half the woman she is!"
The award is the first of its kind and seeks to give the deserved recognition to grandparents across the country, celebrating all that they do for their families. As this year's winner, Kishori will also receive a year's worth of free meals at Table Table as part of the esteemed prize.
Jo Watling, Marketing Manager at Table Table added: "At Table Table we want to celebrate all members of the family, including those of the older generation. We think the Grandparent of the Year award will continue to be a greatly coveted award amongst all grandparents in the future and we're thrilled to be announcing Kishori as the first ever winner!
