Costa Launches 'Parent Friendly' Children's Drink - Babyccino
06/03/2006
Costa – the UK’s leading coffee shop chain – is set to launch, Babyccino - a bespoke milky hot drink for children following research that revealed kids want to drink the same as their Mum and Dad. In-store research carried out at more than 400 Costa outlets around the UK, showed an overwhelming percentage (92%) of over four years old, want what their parents are having, and a quick sip or a taster isn’t good enough! To ensure smiles all round, Costa has designed a unique coffee alternative consisting of warm milk topped with a similar froth to that found on a cappuccino, lightly sprinkled with chocolate and served with a single marshmallow on the side. David Hutchinson, Marketing Director, Costa commented: “As a father I know all about pester power! We’ve noticed an increase in families – especially mums and the children – coming into our stores and the younger ones want their own grown-up drink … Babyccino is exactly that but without the caffeine. It’s a real treat and makes Mum and Dad’s coffee break a more enjoyable experience.” £0.50 for a doppio, babyccino is available nationwide from March 2006. -Ends-
