Matt Case's Costa Journey

Matt joined Costa as a Barista in a newly opened Basingstoke store working weekends when he was just 16 and still at school. In 2005, he transferred to the Southampton store, where he worked as a Barista Maestro whilst studying Marketing Management at the University of Southampton.

Matt took over his first store as Store Manager in 2007 at Basingstoke Festival Place, at the same time as studying in his third year at University! He graduated from University in 2008, and in the same year, he won the Costa award for ‘New Store Opening of the Year’.

A couple of years later, in 2010, Matt won another award. This time he won the ‘Legend Award’, along with a brand new Fiat 500 car!

Matt continued to develop and grow within the company, and after short while of running the Newbury store, Matt was promoted to Associate Retail Development Manager for the M5 corridor, before then being promoted to Retail Development Manager for Devon and Dorset in 2011.

Now Regional Development Manager for the M3 corridor, Matt oversees 22 stores and is in charge of safeguarding the brand, growing sales and developing Store Managers.

Matt has had an incredible journey with Costa and comments:

“I joined Costa because I’ve always loved coffee shops.  They are society in a box and I loved the idea of working amongst that. The characters you meet are amazing, weird and wonderful!”
